So finally TVS Orbiter is launched. What can we see inside? Is there anything special inside it? In terms of design, it seems that the head could have been a little different when viewed from the front. The rest of the lower body is totally fine with me because they didn’t do much. If you see the body in front, it is also light. If you take a side view, the Ather looks similar to the Rishta but not exactly the same as it gets a bit thinner as it goes up. At the bottom you can see the TVS logo and they have given the LED treatment at the front. Right you can see it from the back. So the scooter is following symmetry. In fact TVS has kept a design language here that appeals to the youth and they have tried to create symmetry here. Because the scooter looks straight from the side. You will not see any tilt anywhere. Up front you get 14-inch alloy wheels which are a first in the segment. But with drum brakes. Has telescopic suspension. If you come to the side, one thing you will notice is that the footboard is quite flat and quite large. There is plenty of luggage space. Here the footboard height is 295 mm and the ground clearance is 165 mm. Again you will see that the seat is completely symmetrical. It is an upright seat where two people can sit easily. And the seat length here is also 845 mm which is quite long. Below you will see immediate footback. Now if you look this part it will give you a vibe like Gogo. Gogo has many scooters that come with the same look. And going back a bit where there’s a gab handle and where it says orbiter, it gives me a little look of an ethereal racer scooter. And then the rear wheel is 12 inch and inside it we have installed BLDC hub motor and it is a different motor from their iQube series. So far I was thinking that this brother might come with a mid drive motor but no, we will see a hub motor here. The swing is well covered and dual spin suspension is used here. Inside this rear gab rail, we see two options. One is a bit sporty and the other is a bit conventional looking. Speaking of mirrors, they used the same from IQ. They have used a new display here which is a 5.5 inch color LCD.
Looking at it lightly, I feel that yes, as the E used the dot view display, we can see the same here in the ETR 450s. What will we see inside the rest of the display? So basically here you will see speedometer, battery and range. Turn by turn navigation, call alert, bluetooth indication, message etc. The mobile app also includes live location, charging station locator, battery and drip status, security features. Like the towing alert, be careful. They used the same buttons as IQ. But here comes two new buttons. One for forward and reverse assist, the other for cruise control which turns into a dedicated button. And again TVS says this is also a first shift segment. Below the handle you will find the USB port and below that they have provided a handy glove box where you can easily keep the phone. There is 34 liters of boot space under the seats. Where two half face helmets fit easily. We get to see the rest of the double stand here. If I talk about the design then it is fine. I liked that TVS finally thought of something new apart from its iQube series and came up with a new design that has little resemblance to many scooters but that’s a good thing. Now let’s move on to the specs. So the specs here might bother you a little bit. Its like a hub motor. You can call it the weakest hub motor of TVS till now. Here they used 2.5 kW hub motor.
Due to which this scooter takes 6.8 seconds to go from zero to 40 which is very slow. The maximum speed here is 68 kmph. But with this R and a 2.5 kmph motor, it will take a long time to achieve a top speed of 68. Talking about the battery and range, they have taken the 3.1 kW battery from the iCube which they have installed in the three combo. There are two main batteries under the seat and one main battery inside the floor board, where they do the same thing. You get a little more range from the iCube because the motor consumes a little less power. So they say IDC range here as 158 km. But in real life you can expect this scooter to give 115 km. And the range you see on the TVS display which is said to be empty from a distance is quite accurate from real life. So if you assume a range of 115 km from it, you get it. But yes, I felt the motor power is a bit low here. They have given only two riding modes here. The Eco and City and the scooter has only 7 degrees of gravity. Talking about the charging time, there is a 650 watt charger, which will charge it from 0 to 80% in just 4 hours and 10 minutes, which is not too fast and not too slow as many times we have seen that 300 watt charger is also offered, but we didn’t see that here. Coming to the warranty, there is a 3 year or 500 km warranty, which is common in the iQube series. So if I talk about overview, we have seen everything. It costs ₹1 lakh. As far as the battery is concerned, they have shown only one variant so far. If you look at colors etc, you will see two options in dual tone and you will see four colors in single tone. Now if I give my overview opinion, they did some things in the first last segment that I like. Like they gave 14 inch wheels. They gave very tall seats. They have provided a flat footboard which is very helpful whenever people use the scooter to carry luggage. They have also added smart features etc. well. I will say that the look etc has been refreshed a bit here. They have used new tones which give a fun vibe.
